Personal Profile

I am a Junior Industrial Engineering Major and Statistics Minor with a passion for maximizing value through minimizing non-value-adding steps in processes. I enjoy finding the optimal solution to accomplish this using data driven decision making. I am experienced in regression analysis, spatial statistics, Markov chains, and neural networks through working on a substantially independent undergraduate research study developing forecasting models of infrastructure deterioration to optimize maintenance planning. The necessity of quickly learning methodology for research has led to a commitment to life-long learning through both school and work. One avenue I enjoy pursuing this in is taking online courses on data analytics, including Andrew Ng's Machine learning series. I desire to continue to learn and add value to the field of data science.

Digit Recognition Program

I completed Andrew Ng’s Machine Learning course in the summer of 2018 and plan to complete his deep learning course during winter break of 2018. One assignment was to code a neural network to perform digit recognition. However, I desired to train and test on my own hand writing so I expanded the project by reading in data from paint rather than just using the provided data set. I further learned how to improve the network by tuning hyper-parameters. I thoroughly enjoyed building off of the minimal requirements for the assignments. I believe this speaks to my drive as a lifelong learner who desires to produce quality work.

Systems Engineering Intern

Northrop Grumman

May 2018 - Present

  • Fall 2018: Develop classified probabilistic models and integrate them into an objective function.

  • Summer 2018: Assist classified agile software development project by creating schedule, developing requirements, tracking with earned value management, and designing user experience. Exceeded expectations (highest achievement) for summer performance review.

Undergraduate Research Fellow

The University of Alabama in Huntsville

March 2017 - Present

  • Use spatial statistics, spatial Markov chains, and regression models to analyze the correlation between weather/climate history and the aging of transportation infrastructures.

  • Develop results to form decision-making tools for the Alabama Department of Transportation to assist in maintenance planning of critical civil infrastructures.

Engineering Mentor

The University of Alabama in Huntsville

August 2017 - Present

  • TA for introductory engineering course. Assist 20 first year engineering students’ adjustment to university life through leading in class small groups and hosting weekly meetups at events on campus.
